Title: Convert From Unix to Windows
Post by: cdallum on 22 Sep 2008 09:48:02 AM
We're looking at converting our Cognos installation from a Unix based system to a Windows based system.  So far we've built a sandbox to test the Windows installation.  To better test the sandbox, I would like to use the data from our Unix content store for the Windows sandbox content store.  We will continue using Oracle as the DBMS for the content store, so is it okay to simply copy the data from the Unix test content store to the Windows content store?  Or do we need to export the Unix content store and import it into the Windows content store?

Use the Cognos 8 export/import functionality for the complete content store, and import it into a clean new schema user for your windows box.

I concur.

If you use the Export import of cognos, you can use the same deployment packages / content store export across different types of UNIX servers, different app servers and across UNIX - Windows.
