I have a report that utilizes a dimension that has an alternate drill down path (Sourced from a 7.3 Powerplay Cube). In the current PPX Report in 7, the user can see the alternate path and choose it. Whats the best way to provide the same functionality in Report Studio? Because right now, I don't see the alternative path in my tree prompt. I thought that it may be possible to have a value prompt and have them pick one of the two values and based on that, show the main drill down path or the alternative drill down path. But I am not having any luck with that. Any suggestions?
I am not aware of being able to have both drill paths in one Tree Control. Doesn't mean you can't, but from my experience with Tree Prompts, you are in one or the other hierarchy (aka drill path) to populate the control (when there is more than 1 hierarchy).
Ok, let me explain my example then.
Main Drill Down Path - Year/Quarter/Month
Alternate Drill Down Path - Year/Month
Some users want to pick the year and then see all the data by month rather than picking the year and seeing all of the quarters. So do any of you have any suggestions on fulfilling this requirement? I tried having a prompt page having the user input which they want to do it by then the next prompt page will display the appropriate hiearchy. But we still can't get this to work.
First have a Prompt control that allows the user to check or click to select "By Quarter" or "By Month" for example.
Then based on that selection, create a variable which will then be used as a Render Variable on 2 Tree Prompts, with each one being sourced from the 2 different hierarchies
