Title: Concurrent Admin Links
Post by: drush on 26 May 2008 08:00:36 PM
Hi,

We are planning on moving to Cognos Planning 8.3 from 7.3.

We split our environment into 3 Pads because we found that admin links would queue and we needed to run admin links concurrently.

Can two Admin Links be run in the same Pad Common or Planning Store?

Regards,

Daniel

Hi,

i know it is late to reply to this post, but thought of sharing my knowledge & exp on this subject,

obvious answer to your question is, No, 2 admin links can not run concurrently but can be executed at the same time.
It is possible that 2nd admin link (queued one) can start processing once 1st admin link releases processors.
(I assume that you have necessity to run 2 admin links concurrently).

creating 3 PADs just to run admin links is somewhat expensive decision but there is no other go if you have to run admin link concurrently.
Otherwise there is an alternate to admin link, "publish+ETL+Import" process. you can run as many such processes  concurrently as long as you have dedicated job servers for each application.

Hope this helps.
