I need to have a customised time dimension Balance, does anyone know how I would go about this? Basically I want to rollup
monthly forecast records for the balance (which consists of current month and all the rest) to a total for my report.
I assume that "all the rest" means "in the future", not "all the rest" or you'd simply be looking for a total? An interesting requirement, sort of an anti-LifetoDate.
While I have worked with custom relative time categories, I haven't done anything with calculated categories in the time dimension so am not sure of the capabilities/limitations. If you can do relative category math, AllTime-LifeToDate+CurrentMonth would give you what you want (assuming monthly granularity), though come to think of it I'm not even sure how to do "AllTime" in the Time dimension.
You might also look at how LifeToDate is implemented, maybe a custom category which negates one of its offsets would do the trick? Just a thought, I don't have easy access to Transformer at the moment to see if that's a reasonable suggestion.
