Title: Report Studio - rounding in csv output
Post by: kdief on 16 Apr 2008 08:35:47 PM
Hi all

User acceptance testing of our COGNOS 8 reporting has uncovered a problem. We hava couple of areas who do a lot of work with csv files - especially and understandably Finance.
When $ values are displayed in the html / Excel format, the cents are there. WHen the file is sent to csv, the amounts are rounded to whole $. We are on release 8.2

We haven't been able to make this happen on the Great Outdoors  >:(

We suspect something in the Framework Package, but as yet have been unable to identify it. We have found nothing on the KB, and have raised a case with COGNOS too. And we're nagging.

Just wondering if anyone has had the same oissue or can identify a resolution?

I have found something here

http://support.cognos.com/supported/docs/en/cognos8_bi/8.2/8_2_sp1_fix_list.pdf

look @ page 6 no. 575758, Issue doing CSV extracts in C8.2
not much info here.

If you have Virtual PC, try to install Service Pack 1 for 8.2 and see if the problem exists.

On further analysis it appears as though the issue is only occuring on int64 fields - int32 & decimals are working happily :-\

Will check into the SP1 situation....

We have a fix from COGNOS - or more accurately a workaround. Multiplying the item by 1.00 in the Framework manager definition ensures that the decimals are preserved in CSV. Ugly, brutal but efficacious... :o
