Post by: haripali on 13 Apr 2008 03:31:12 AM

In Cognos8 Report Studio I have created some 50 reports. Now I want to take a backup(copies) of these reports & want to keep it in different location(or drive). How to do this???

this is Cognos8 with content store on oracle9i.

You can create a new export via the Tools Menu (8.2), Content Administration. The package is then exported to your deployment folder (default).
You can change the default folder for deployment archives via Cognos Configuration.

Or if you don't have content administration privilege, do one by one by opening the report and Tools--> Copy Report To Clip Board and then save as txt or xml file.

thanks Suraj Neupane & biejorrun
both of you have pointed in right direction.

there are 2 method to take backup of reports

1) use Tools--> Copy Report To Clip Board & copy report from cliboard
2) Deployment - Import & export in cognos connection

I have done Method 1) & worked well. But here u have to do this for each report. In case if reports run in more then 100 then this might not be very efficient better to go for Method 2) since it will take back up of all reports at once (very efficent & powerful).
I still have to work on Method 2) & later i will definately post my comment on this.

Senior guys thanks a ton once again
