Title: Upgrading Cognos 8 database to SQL Server 2005

We are considering updating our Cognos 8 database from SQL Server 8 to SQL Server 2005.  Any suggestions?

Hi,

If you are referring to upgrading the Content Store database, just make sure you are on Cognos 8.1 MR1 or later.

Make a backup of your contentstore... Restore that backup in the new SQL Server 2005 server and change the Contentstore connection in Cognos Configuration to the SQL Server 2005 server.. That should do the trick. Also don't forget to make an additional Full Contenstore Export!
