Hi all,
We are changing the width of column of table from 1 character to 2 characters in the database. We are using this column in report. My question is if there will be any impact on the report or frameworkmanager?Or we need update the framework manager?.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks& Regards,

Should not make any difference. If you change the datatype of a column, then you need to re-import for Cognos to set the datatype property
Blom ...
You're a bit off here. Your Query subjects do not need to be re-imported because of a datatype change!!!
Simply select the Query subjects that have changes in the columns in the underlaying table/view, then select the Tools menu and click Update Object
The column information is checked and compared to that in the model and if different, updated in the model. This will eliminate a lot of un-necessary re-modeling with the re-import method.
Yes, you're right. Unfortunately we've had some issues with the best practice you describe, so I automatically defaulted to the brute force strategy ;D
I am not getting what you are saying.what is mean by brute force starategy.

brute force = reimporting. Best practice = updating according to rockytopmark's post.
Hi
Changing the data type of particular column at data base level not affect on that much while using that in FM or Report studio.
Rather in Report Studio we can set the data type of particular data item as per the requirement!!

Re publish the package once you updated the QS.
