Hello everyone,

New to the forum and Cognos. We are in the middle of implementing a BI DW project with Cognos 8 as the front end. I was just wondering if a drill down on heirarchies is a better practice than creating a drill through report (down heirarchies also).

Which would be faster>

Hello friend,

Drill-through is used to link between two reports and drill-down is navigating the report from more detail level to less detail level

This is judged purely on a report to report basis. You need to identify which is more appropriate for the business's requirements for each report.

They both have their place... one isn't "better" than the other necessarily.
