Good Afternoon Cognos Gurus,
This is happening in Cognos v11.2.3. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with this function from any prior Cognos releases because this is the very first time I'm trying to use it.
First off, I am a senior level Report Author presumably with significant Cognos accesses assigned to me by some Administrator long ago. I don't experience the following symptom myself using my routine Window login but other lower-level Cognos users do.
Here is the situation and symptom:
1. I authored a report. It is stored in a Teams folder that everyone has access to. The report contains no prompts.
2. I used the routine Share function within the Teams Content folder to copy the URL which points to that report uniquely.
3. I can successfully use that URL to launch directly to that report using either a desktop shortcut or from an MS Edge browser from the Cognos Production Server or from other servers or workstations.
4. We use single-sign-on so in either of those instances, I am not interrupted with a Windows login nor a Cognos login. The report simply renders.
5. However, when I have other less powerful users attempt to launch using the same URL (via shortcut or browser), more-often-than-not Cognos stops the user and prompts for login.
All users who are testing - and getting this inconsistent but frequent result of the unintended interrupting Cognos login prompt - have already authenticated with Windows login and can successful run and render the report from where it is stored in the Teams folder once they login to Cognos. I know it sounds crazy but the interrupting login prompt doesn't appear consistently for anyone - some users can launch directly to and render the report just like I can. At other times, the same users seem not to be able to launch the same URL without being prompted for Cognos login.
Can anyone suggest what settings might be impacting the ability for the report URL to take advantage of single-sign-on and bypass the Cognos login?
