Title: Restrict access to the ability to create an Active Report
Post by: dougp on 22 Jun 2021 12:46:43 PM
We have a few active reports, but we don't allow the use of a browser (IE or Firefox) that can take advantage of the technology.  I want to not allow the creation of any new active reports.  I have removed the templates, but Blank Active Report continues to appear in the available templates when creating a new report.  How can I remove the capability to create an active report?

Hi Doug,

I don't know of a way to do this in the UI, sorry. Capabilities are not that granular. The customization you can make to a Role doesn't extend to features within the Reporting UI. I would have suggested what you already tried in removing the Active Report templates, but there are no Blank templates so you can't remove or secure the Blank Active Report option. Back in Cognos 10(.2.2), User Interface Profiles allowed you to configure granular UI features within Workspace Advanced, and you could create a profile that looked like Report Studio minus the Active Report features, but sadly not in CA.

I'd be interested to know if you find a solution.

Cheers!

MF.
