Post by: jjohnston618 on 02 Jun 2021 08:19:28 AM
Are there are existing threads/resources/videos that go through best way to create prompt reports from a relational data module? The main differences, best practices, etc  Thanks!

Hi,

There's a support document that was originally created for Cognos 10 Report Studio that walks through the steps. Although Reporting in Cognos Analytics looks a lot different, the same steps should still apply:

Another thing to bear in mind is that a Value Prompt displays values that are retrieved using a query. Let's say your report has a Product Type value prompt with a query to retrieve the Product Types to display in the prompt. If you go in and add a filter to that query which then prompts for Product Line, and add the corresponding Product Line value prompt and query, these will then cascade.

Cheers!
