Title: Security using security table
Post by: cognos05 on 31 May 2021 08:51:28 PM
Hi Users,

We were using cognos transformer for a while and now we have a data warehouse with star schema and thinking of using dynamic cubes.

The only issue I have is earlier we had custom views created in transformer using some scripts and static , but now we have a large user base around 1000 users with different security on customer levels .

I have a security table which will give user name, cam id of the user and to the territory he should have access , so a user can have access to more than 1 territory , so the rows might repeat for a user with different territrories and this can be joined with fact on territories .

1) My question is how can i autoamte this security handling and what should be the realtionship between my fact and security table  and any filters on camid should be set on fact table?

2) If I have to set the security on more than 1 dimension , how should have my source security table and then the join to dimension to achieve the same - ex a user to see one account and one product,

Any suggestions is highly appreciated .

Thanks,

I can't give you much help in mapping between concepts in transformer and dynamic cubes.

There's a chapter in the redbook about security, which might be able to help you, possibly.
