Title: Consumer User Can't Run Dashboard built against a Transformer Cube
Post by: Penny on 22 Apr 2021 04:28:51 PM
We created a cube in Transformer to use as a source for a dashboard in Cognos Analytics 11.1.3 (we will upgrade soon).  The dashboard works beautifully for authors only.

The consumer can run a report with a crosstab using the cube as the source without issue, but when they try to open the dashboard built against the same cube we get a popup error that says:
            Error
Unable to get propertly of 'id' of undefined or null reference.

Authors can run the dashboard without getting that error.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this might be occurring?

Thank-you

Hi,

I have seen these kinds of errors before where there are old versions of pages or javascript in the browser cache. Have you had your consumer clear their browser cache to see if this fixes the problem?

It looks like there was a defect causing these kinds of messages that was fixed in the 11.1.4 release also. CognosPaul pulled together a list of what was fixed and this was PH16989

Cheers!

Hello again.

I definitely have a problem with the security groups as even after upgrading to 11.1.7FP3 user has the same error. I will re-open case with IBM now that our upgrade is complete.
Any advice is welcome.

Thank-you

Is this an issue just for one user? What browser (and version) is the user using? Does the user see the same error in a different browser?

Cheers!

We did the following testing before the upgrade.  I did have an open case with IBM at the time and we connected via webex with the user.  We decided to go ahead with the upgrade and come back to this.  I haven't re-opened the case yet.  We are just starting with Dashboards in our organization, but have several cubes and related reports.

DATASOURCE - user can run a report built against the cube with a crosstab in it
BROWSERS - tried Firefox  ESR 78.13, Chrome Version 92.0.4515.13, cleared cache during webex with IBM - basically the same error slightly different appearance, no detail given

Thank-you for responding.

Hi Penny,

I think it is unlikely to be an issue with security groups.

Have you tried replicating the problem with a new dashboard?
Is this an issue for more than one user?
When authors run the dashboard are they in edit mode or view mode, have you tried both?

Note: Some browsers have a default time set for clearing the cache, if this is the case it needs to be changed from x number of days to 'all time'

Thanks,
Tom
