Post by: Raja Krishnamoorthy on 15 Feb 2021 09:30:37 PM
Hi All,

Is there a possibilities to connect Cognos Analytics to AWS S3 Data Lake as a Data Source.
If so what is the Data Source connection name we need to select in the Cognos Analytics.
Also, Kindly narrate the steps to be followed.

Hi,

If I'm understanding correctly, you have data held in Amazon Simple Storage Services in S3 as a data lake, and you want to connect Cognos Analytics to the data? Do you have Amazon Athena available to you, and AWS Glue? Cognos Analytics connects to Amazon Athena, but (I'm not an Amazon expert here, so double-check this) I think you need an AWS Glue data catalog to sit between Athena and your data lake to allow Athena to query the data. If you have Athena and AWS Glue then you ought to be able to do this. You'll need the Amazon Athena JDBC driver copied into the Drivers folder on your CA application server(s), then set up the connection in Manage > Data Server Connections.

Cheers!

MF.

Hi Raja Krishnamoorthy,
Did you manage to setup the connection between Amazon Athena and Cognos? Could you please provide the details?
