Title: Regarding turning off scientific notation when downloading as csv
Post by: asmfloyd on 09 Feb 2021 11:42:36 AM
Hello,
I am generating a report in which one column has a bigger number (12 digits). When downloaded and opened in csv, excel shows that as scientific notation . Is there any option I can do in Cognos report studio so that it does not display in scientific notation?

Thanks,

Excel displays big numbers in scientific notation because it's a default Excel behavior.

The only way I can think of to get around that is to get Cognos to place the number inside quotes, making it a text value instead of a number.

I tried a few things to get quotes around a number in CSV, but didn't come up with anything that worked in the few minutes I spent playing with it.
