version - Cognos 11 Reporting Studio
I have never created a report in Cognos but been tasked with it.
I've been given a template of of what the report should look like in excel.
I am using a cross tab container for the report.
The issue I am having is how to I preserve the labels for the data items?
Imagine in excel spreadsheet you had the first column running down with names of the fields so you know what you are looking at - need to achieve the same thing in cognos for a cross tab report.

I think I have figured it out - I have to use "cross tab space" and drag this into my cross tab.

So many users misunderstand why to use a crosstab. The data describes itself. You don't need a column header to tell you that Golf Clubs is a product family (or some such thing). I have this problem at work also, so I feel your pain.

You may need to adjust the version number on the first line for this to work in your environment.
