Hello, i have an installation of Cognos 11 in Red Hat. And im being asked to apply the fix pack 3. But what i get from Fix Central is the full installer with the FP3. And when i try to install i only get the option for a full instalation.
Can i install only the fixpack?

Hi,
Every install and fix pack install is a complete installation - you install it over the top of the existing install. Just make sure you don't try to uninstall the current version before installing the new one - if you do this you will lose all your configuration.
Cheers!
MF.
OK, so i just run the new fixpack, select the folder where Cognos was installed and then I select overwrite?
Do i need to make some preparation before besides backups?
Verify what files you want to preserve.
Here's some material to read and to use for your planning of the upgrade process.

Additional things to consider would be to make a deployment before updating your server and moving or copying it to some other location. Another thing to consider would be to make a backup of your cm database after you have shut down your CA server. This way, if everything goes very wrong you have that to fall back on.
Known bug in FP3: Query Service will fail to start if your data files location or temp files location is not the default. Fixed in IF and FP4. (Same problem in 11.1.6. Fixed in 11.1.7.)
