Title: Crosstab from joined table
Post by: car0l on 29 Jun 2020 08:10:27 AM
Hi Experts!
I made query by joining other queries. When I create crosstab from this query values are incorrect.
I checked how values look on list and seems to be ok, but when I make crosstab from it values are not correct.
I tried to change detail aggregation in crosstab but failed.
Any ideas what can help?

Thanks!

1. Try to describe what is incorrect with your results i.e. try to identify the pattern of the data invalidity.  For example, is the problem double counting?  If you understand the pattern you can then identify how to go about addressing the problem.

2. Are you sure that the list report replicates your crosstab?

3. Try to model in a modelling tool.

It's easier to do stuff and the stuff you do is available to all the reports which you create from the package.  This means you don't have to recreate stuff for each report.

In addition to saving you time, it reduces the possible points of failure to one and increases the possibility of consistency in the reporting.

Also, there's stuff in the Cognos modelling tools which allow you to deal with common query problems such as multi-fact grains, which is difficult to do in the reporting tools, which is not surprising as they are reporting tools, not modelling tools.
