Hello everyone,
Why are there 3 java processes running for a default installation of Cognos Analytics 11.1.1? Cognos 10 had two, cognos 8 had one.

There are some new microservices in CA for the portal, dashboards, storyboards, data modules etc. The new java process is for these.

Hi,
I haven't seen any official documentation on this, but the three java processes are as below:
1. Content manager & application server - the one java process you would see in Cognos 8.
2. Query Service (XQE) to support Dynamic Query Mode - this was added in Cognos 10.
3. Client container to support the new portal/dashboards/story boards/data modules/interactive viewer etc - this was added in Cognos Analytics.

You are probably referring to a child process under the query service.
