Title: Windows vs. Unix for Performance and Stability for Cognos 8
Post by: cognosguru on 18 Jan 2008 04:25:08 PM
Friends,

Does anyone have any specifics to share on Cognos 8 performance and stability difference when ran on Windows vs. Unix?  We have it on Windows 2003 now and it is not running well.  Thinking of switching to Unix but want some concrete reasons.

Thanks,

Hi cognosguru,

What is not working well in your configuration?
I'm running 8.2 on Windows 2003 SP2 without any problems...

Cognosguru,

Summing; Unix is better than windows, Unix handles memory and processes better than windows, not show blue screenshots and better for security.

bye,

i disagree and have worked with large windows and unix environments.

windows 2003 is very stable.

i would also put the TCO of windows lower than unix.
