Title: Automation of user list
Post by: kobo on 07 Jan 2019 09:29:04 AM
Hi All,

On daily basis, we get requests in Service Now Portal for adding users to the cognos groups . Sometimes the list is big(100's of users) need to be added. Is there any automated process in place, which can be done instead of doing it manually every time

Regards,
Kobo

I know how I'd get the list of new users, but I think you already have that.

To automate the process of categorizing the new users into groups and roles, you'll probably want to use the Cognos SDK.

I don't know what you're asking for that is not in the documentation.  Have you read that?

Dear Kobo

What we do is we made only our AD (Active Directory) groups member of our Cognos Groups. When a user is placed in this AD-group makes this user a member of a Cognos Group.
We took all the individual authorization out of Cognos
Now we are in a process of migrating our namespace from AD to OKTA(OpenID) en the only thing we have to do is to add OKTA-groups as member of our Cognos groups

Hope this is a direction to go for you

Greetings, Paul
