Title: Migration from one CJAP to another (Sql Server JDBCSample)
Post by: gohabsgo on 09 Oct 2018 08:12:55 AM
Hey Folks,
We are upgrading our environments to SQL2016 and as part of the process we're moving to brand new servers for both the DB and Cognos.  Our Cognos is currently using CJAP JDBCSample pointing to SQL db #1.  Now we're looking to move it to SQL db #2.

The issue we're seeing is that rightly so, Cognos is assigning new CAMID and thus all of the content is inaccessible to the users.  For the migration we moved the Content Store DB over to the new server.  I assumed (incorrectly) that by exporting the content store it would maintain CAMID, but it seems that since the CJAP is reliant on the SQL users, that just exporting/importing the content store is not sufficient?

Does anyone have some experience with similar?  I don't want to go through the exercise of manually remapping everything unless I absolutely have to.

Thanks!

I'm just gonna throw is an idea. Though I have not tried what you did. But according to you, that didn't work.
What about instead of migrating the Content Store DB, you do a full content backup instead?
To be specific, create a new content store db, then import from a full content backup. There's an option not to generate new IDs when exporting/importing I believe.
