Title: Multisubnet Failovers
Post by: Cognos91 on 24 Sep 2018 03:31:30 PM
Hi All,

This is regarding multi subnet fail over infrastructure/ config settings. We recently had an issue with two app servers (dispatchers). The secondary app server did not come up after the primary one failed. The fail over did not work as intended.
The SQL server connection is set as Native Client. One workaround the issue was to add the DNS host entry with the correct IP in the one of the app servers.
Would anyone have an idea in terms of how to set-up/ configure app servers to avoid failovers?

First, are you sure your secondary Content Manger is up and has the status of "On Standby Mode", before the failover?
What version of CA are you on??

Where can I check that? I now know that we have two servers - both act as dispatchers and content managers, with both pointing to the same content store db.
Recently, we saw the issue post our maintenance window. The services were restarted in our primary servers, but the portal only loaded a blank page. No network activity was noticed.
We had to flush the dns entries, added a host entry in hosts file in primary server to the active IP directly. Services were restarted, and the portal worked.
