Title: Best way to get Active Reports to Cognos Mobile
Post by: shelby435 on 23 Jul 2018 02:10:43 PM
On 10, my users are used to running their Active Reports within Cognos Mobile, downloading the file and going on their merry way.

Now, with 11, we all know they can no longer do that. With bursting not an option for us, is the only way of getting the report to Cognos mobile really running with options, selecting send to mobile, adding their ID and then finally running the report?

Cognos mobile is quite important to them since they are very often on the go, and not all users have the cellular network option on the iPad.

Anyone else facing this? Anyone else furious they removed this interactivity option on Cognos Mobile?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Hi,

If an active report has already been run and the output has been saved, you can add that into your mobile app by browsing for it. Would this be sufficient if you had the report scheduled to create the output overnight?

Thanks MFGF
Our ARs are very dynamic. They run for a region and then they select upwards of 50 people within the region.
If they run the report and save the output themselves, theres no way to secure that to only them, is there?

I think, the report will still show data based on the securities applied to the report.
No matter who runs the report?

Hi

If user A saved the report output for their report, then user B can go ahead and see the same saved output. We have security set at the data level. I dont think you can secure saved versions to specific users...

This is what bursting would allow you to do - schedule the report and generate multiple saved outputs which can be secured based on CAMIDs of users/groups/roles. You mentioned bursting is not an option for you - can you elaborate?

Cheers!

The dashboard is secured at Region level. Each region can have upwards of 150 people. The users are allowed to pick up to 50 people to download for. They pick these people depending on the calls they are going on for that day.

If I try to burst, I don't think it would be sufficient enough since they selections can be so dynamic. I cannot burst for the whole region either, since the mht file would be well over 20 MB (thats where we start to see issues).

Is there anything out there that a user can do that would generate their own burst? A dynamic/ on demand burst? But, I think now I am just circling back to run with options, send to mobile, add name, run. . etc
