Title: creating Cognos data source for SQL Server db with only windows authentication
Post by: venu4cognos on 06 Mar 2018 09:46:53 PM
Hi,

I would like to connect to SQL server db for a Cognos data source.

We have been given a user id, which has access to the SQL server through windows authentication.
So how do i use this detail and create a data source. So that when other users run the Cognos report using the created data source, they are still able to use the windows id with which Cognos data source was created.

I read through articles on jdbc driver, kerbros authentication. but I am not clear on which route to start with.

Thanks,
Venu

Hi Venu,

Have you tried creating a datasource in cognos? If not (go to cog administration->Datasources->Create new datasource).

The user ID given to you must be a generic user ID and not employee User ID.

If you can connect it, then check whether it is getting executed by other users.
