Hi cogtechs,
i have installed cognos 8 successfully on windows vista..
when i try to open URL http://localhost/c8
it open the cognos connection and immediately turn to the error page called Server Error in Application "Default Web Site.
i have done all necessary steps (created alias in IIS7 & every thing)
I cant understand the problem is what?
Why do people like running in unsupported environments ... ? I wonder ...
More detail needed - 500, 401, 403,?
To answer the other question, because that's what's put on the desktop/laptop that the person receives. Not everyone gets to dictate their OS choice, and they have to make do with what they receive.
But how many servers run Vista???
And how many people are issued servers as a personal workstation?
You can run a web server even on an XP, so it is really not a server per se ...
I am running Cognos8 on Longhorn (Server 2008) or am attempting to at least. I have Cognos installed and the service appears to be running fine. Contentstore has tables in it that Cognos created and my webserver loads the cognos8 splash page. I have CGI enabled, its not installed by default in IIS7 , you have to make sure to add it, then enable it or you will not even get to the first screen properly. I have also added ASP because I think thats needed as well.
Does anyone have any suggestions or links that explain how to setup IIS7 for Cognos 8 or even any proof that it does work? I don't mind playing around and trying things to see if I can do something but if anyone can conclusively say Cognos 8 does not work on Longhorn/IIS7 then it would save me time.
The current error I am getting is
DashboardException
PF-SRV-6116 Unable to process the document, target is not valid or the target was not received.
