Title: Changing a Data Module for an Existing Report
Post by: Cognos_Jan2017 on 23 Oct 2017 11:01:54 AM
We have an existing Report which we have Saved As another Report name,
and we want to report based on 2 other uploaded Excel files.

Apparently, a Data Module Source for an existing Report CANNOT be changed?

So ... we have added the new 2 uploaded Excel files to the existing Data Module.
Is that the way it must be done?

TIA, Bob

Hi Bob

You can right click on data module name under sources tab and use Relink menu to point it to a new data module.

Thanks
Kiran

Thank you Kiran ... but right-clicking the Data Module, in the Source, only displays "Collapse".

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Bob,

If you see a left arrow ("<") in front of the data module name indicating Back, click on that. Next to the data module name you will see vertical ellipsis and when you click on that you can see Relink option.

Thanks,
Kiran

Thank you Kiran - Looking at Source, and directly under Find, to the Left of
the Data Module name is only the Expand - Collapse arrow ... no < or Back.

I wound up adding 2 other uploaded Excel files to the two Excel files already there.
From there, I made Data Items which work fine.

Hi,

This is what I see when I right-click a data module in the source pane of my report:

What version of CA are you using? The above is 11.0.7

Cheers!

MF.

Thank you MFGF.

The App does not have 11.0.7 yet, but is on its way.

Good to know we will be able Replace data module soon.

Hey Bob,

You can still do it in 11.0.6. See attached.

Kiran

Yep, but that appears to be a dashboard rather than a report?

Cheers!

Oh, I see. My bad. Thanks for clarifying MF. I see the problem now with replacing the data module in 11.0.6 report.

Bob - I hope it is not a pressing issue for you and that you can wait for 11.0.7 upgrade.  :)

Regards,
Kiran

Kiran and MFGF ... all is fine.  Thru trial-and-error, I now know (apparently) all Uploaded files are ALWAYS
saved in "My Content".  Testing all those Reports works fine for me, the Author, but not other Users UNTIL
I Move the Uploaded Excel files to the appropriate Data Module in the Path in "My Content".

Very hunky dory now.

THANK you both.

Have a good weekend, Bob
