Title: Cognos won't start - error msg: Cannot allocate memory
Post by: ilikebundy on 22 Aug 2017 03:56:29 PM
Hoping someone has seen this before as I am stumped.

On starting cognos it gets an error :  Java Hotspot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM warning:  INFO:  os::commit_memory(0x00007ffa94600000, 530579456, 2097152, 0) failed; error='Cannot allocate memory' (errno=12)  (refer to attached)

There is sufficient memory and heaps of swapspace.

Cognos 10.2 on Linux - 64GB memory

What is the java heap size set to be for your Cognos instance?
