Title: downloading report output using Excel issue
Post by: priya@90 on 08 Aug 2017 08:06:31 AM
Hello Friends,

While downloading report output in excel 2007 it's taking lot of time to get download(5 to 6mins) and when i run in HTML it's just taking less than a minute. what could be reasons? Any idea's

i am using crosstab which is having 30 Rows and 11columns including nested columns, no filters(filters had done in ETl section), no prompts, no complex calculations. I have used reportoutput function also but not giving any difference. Please share any idea's.

Thanks,
Priya

Are you sure you're not just seeing the first page when rendering as HTML? What happens if you render as PDF - is it slow like Excel?

I can see fast output when go to 2nd page in HTML, with the HTML no performance issues and even though PDF is also like Excel, it's taking lot of time to download in PDF, iam trying to download the data using Development server only(limited data)

Thanks,

Hi,

So what you're saying is HTML interactive rendering is fast, and Excel / PDF interactive rendering is slow? This is as you'd expect. For a description of why, please see FAQ #2 in the FAQs post:

Hello MF,

Thanks for your help and time.
When you set run option as 0 it will retrieve all the rows in one page and this is also not giving any problem to me, it's giving very fast data, no more pages HTML output looks like in single page. It's not about rendering page's, something is wrong while importing into Excel. I am trying to re-develop the report let's see whether i can able to find the solution or not.

Thanks,

Hi,
You can use a table in the crosstab row node by unlocking it, with 2 rows and 1 column and place a text above or below the node member text as per the requirement.
Good luck

Hi,
Thanks for your response. Whatever you said might not get the correct result, i already tried and it's giving the output like EMP 10 in first row and 2nd row EMP 20, 3rd row EMP 30 etc... this is not good Header should be EMP no only once should show and also i tried in crosstab corner to add table and it's also a same problem like crosstab space. Any idea's pls

Thanks,
Priya

Hi,
You can render the table based on the row node's memberCaption or you can try conditional style and box out the table cell. Try it and it should work.
Good luck
