There used to be an option in Cognos Connection on 10 to change the default action for a report to run the report rather than show the latest saved output when you click on the report name. In Cognos Connection there was an icon that indicates if saved versions exist so it was easier for users to understand what clicking the name would do in each case.
In 11 there is no option to change this behavior and there are no visual clues to the user to indicate when clicking the name will run something vs. bringing up a latest saved output.
I searched the IBM RFE site and found this link (http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=85305) which says they have declined the request to re-introduce it:

This was a design decision to have the "best defaults by default" and simplify the user experience. This is not something we are planning to deliver in the near future, but we invite others to continue to vote on this RFE. If there is broad interest for this, IBM will revisit the RFE.
:(
I also found this more recent item (http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=104500) which I suspect will eventually be marked as a duplicate.
I would encourage anyone who would prefer to have this functionality returned to go and vote for these RFEs.
I really dislike it when companies decide to 'simplify' interfaces but are actually removing functionality for those who need it, as in this case.
I agree, please vote these up if you can.
