i have found the way to view tabular data in cognos 11, but have not found a way to view it in excel. i used to be able to change the run options, but it no longer includes output format.
Hi,
This is still a bug that IBM needs to resolve. For now we are using an extra page with all the query items.
Good luck
New guy
Here is the RFE for this:
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=100355
Looks like it will be in the next release. Yippee ;D
Sounds like a pretty big problem. We're just starting on Cognos 10. The link that Lynn posted returns a 404 error, so the link has changed or was deleted.

I just tried it again and the link works fine for me. Anyone else able to see it?

If you are already signed in to the RFE site, the link works. If not, it doesn't (at least for me). Go to the RFE page for Business Analytics https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/?BRAND_ID=401 then select Cognos Analytics as the product. Click on one of the requests, and you will get prompted to log in. Once you have done this, Lynn's link takes you to the request.
Cheers!
MF.
Hi all,
We are on Cognos 11.07 but can't seem to find the View Tabular data in Excel version, maybe it is hidden somewhere. Please help.
Thanks,
Carollin
I don't see any way to do it and I don't see it in the help. I have submitted a PMR. If IBM Support says it's still not possible, I'll report IBM_BA_Developer's post to the RFE on 12 Sept 2017 as abuse.
promises, promises, promises, lies and more lies -- I'm getting tired of it.
IBM Support got back to me. The process is neither documented nor intuitive. You'll need to run the query twice.
- Right-click on the query.
- Click View tabular data
- Wait for the query results to display in HTML.
- In the toolbar above the output, click on the down arrow on the Run tool.
- Click on Run Excel
- Wait for the query to complete
- Find the Excel output in your downloads area
Doug, I don't get a toolbar above the output. All I get is this a plain bar at the top of the webpage. Is there some setting that will make the options show up after the query has run?
There's a workaround to get the toolbar up top.
Attach the query you want to view the tabular data to a new list. Then follow the steps from dougp. You'll always get the toolbar across the top this way. Hopefully this will be fixed in later on.
