Is there a way in report studio that I can assign a name to an account #. I want to build a budget report that shows Prior Year month, Current Year Month, Prior Year to date, Current Year to date and then variance amounts & %'s. The report comes out by GL account, I want to assign a broad category name to several accounts (ex. direct labor, overhead, other direct costs, Travel) so they are grouped as such & then show totals based on these cost categories. An input would be appreciated. I'm pretty green so I'll likely have follow ups. I've seen some threads on calcing CYTD totals so I plan to work form those to try to figure out how to get those to calc in y report. Thanks

if there were no cost category name existing in your model yet, why not ask your database team to create them?
This is what i understood, you just need this new data item and assign the accounts respectively.
