FYI
If you're running 8.2 and want to keep the installation path etc, you get prompted that you cannot install over an existing installation!

You need to uninstall 8.2, before uninstalling make a copy of configuration folder,data folder, and webcontent folder (if you have any images stored in this folder apart from defaults one). And then install 8.3 you will fine.

Is this also the case with 8.1 MR2? i.e. uninstall 8.1 MR2 and then install 8.3?

Hi,

If memory serves - yes it is.  Make sure you back up your content store and configuration folder before uninstalling.

It is the case with all Cognos upgrades.
