Title: Automated way of Refreshing Cognos Framework Manager package on a daily basis
Post by: PratikDatta06 on 10 Apr 2017 09:30:52 AM
Hello Everyone,

We have a lot of changes going on at the data warehouse of our project and  our analyst is not being able to track and inform us all on the changes on time.
Hence I am looking or a way to automatically refresh all the query subjects in our Cognos Framework Manager packages to check whether all the tables and the columns are same or any changes have been done to the table structure or not.
I am looking to this on a daily basis such that if any changes occur at the database level,we will get an error  message in the refreshing process.
For example:Like if we "Update Object" for a particular query subject and the name of a particular query item of database view namespace is not matching with that in database, it will throw an error message. We generally keep the same name of the tables and columns in the  database view namespace as that in the database .
We can then look into the error and track  and follow up on the changes even if we are not informed of them.
Any advise or suggestions on this would be really helpful .
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Can you ask the database guys to do schema compare and they can send you the results with the changed objects? And then we can use a tool like Motio or BSP metamanger to do the fixes.
Good luck
