Title: Upgrading from Planning 8.1mr2 to 8.2
Post by: nbarsley on 29 Nov 2007 10:36:27 AM
Hi,
We're about to upgrade from EP 8.1MR2 to 8.2 and we would like some success stories/problems that people have run into during the upgrade. From what I understand, there is a patch for c8 that needs to be installed after EP8.2 is installed?
I have also heard that security is a little different with EP8.2. We're using AccMan, is there something we could set up ahead of time to avoid running into any problems?

Thanks in advance,

Neil

According to our current experience, I suggest you'd wait for another mr. Right now a lot of things like admin links, applications and others do not transfer correctly. Not blank stupid "not working", but rather some things like "everything ok, but not publishing anymore"  -- all such stuff. We've got a whole bunch of open cases with support, so I hope it'll be much better in next release.

We have the same experience. Unless you do not consider the new functions of 8.2 vital, you should currently not upgrade a productive environment.
In EP 8.2 you use the C8 security, which can access more authentication providers. When you plan to keep your Access Manager you use a so called "Series 7 Namespace" in Cognos8. The only major change is, that you don't need the ticket service any longer.
