Title: Cognos Configuration - Active Directory Namespace
Post by: adam.johnson on 09 Mar 2017 05:29:48 AM
Recently upgraded to Cognos 11R5.

Upon configuring our AD Namespace i am facing issue when testing.

Cognos Development - Server sits in host-dev.site
Namespace ID - AD
Host and Port - host-dev.site:389

Testing Namespace - Succesful
Testing logging on to AD namespace - Fails

Error:
['AD']
[ ERROR ] CAM-AAA-0055 User input is required.
[ ERROR ] CAM-AAA-0036 Unable to authenticate because the credentials are invalid.
[ ERROR ] The user name or password is incorrect.

When i complete the same action on a different server which i located in our TEST Domain this test succesfully.

Has anyone faced this issue before?

Note: The Namespace configuration is exactly the same on both our DEV and TEST servers, in summary:
DEV Cognos Server to DEV Namespace - Fails
TEST Cognos Server to DEV Namespace - Succeeds

As a non-Windows / Network Expert, is there something obvious i can check from a firewall, domain trust, TCP/IP, etc. stance.

Adam

Have you checked the binding credentials? Are they required for your environment?

Just as a sanity test - in Cognos Configuration, if you go to "File->Export As" on both configurations and compare the decrypted information, are all properties the same?

If you want to identify whether it's related to your environment or Cognos, try connecting using an external tool such as LDAP Browser.
