Hello all,
I'm a new user of IBM Cognos with past experience using Business Objects. I can see that most of the functionality is similar, but I can't figure out how to execute some of the same things in Cognos that I used to be able to do in business objects.
Anyways, I've created a variable in the condition explorer/variables area, but for the life of me, I can not figure out how to actually add it to a report.
I'm sure this is a pretty big "noob" question, but would anyone be so kind as to walk me through this process?
Thanks,
- Bryan B.

Hi,
We might be talking about different things here? Can you describe what you mean by "variable" and what you want to use it for? Are you referring to a parameter you might use after prompting for it?
Variables in Cognos BI are used for things like conditional displays (eg showing values in different colours or conditionally displaying/hiding objects) - is this what you need to do? Can you explain your requirement?
Cheers!
