Title: Schedule Priority Permissions
Post by: gpollock on 13 Oct 2016 09:23:58 AM
Hi Everyone,

I'm running Cognos 10.2.2, and we use Active Directory for our namespace.  All our security/capabilities will be applied on Cognos groups and roles.

I want to have 3 levels of consumers that are restricted to the scheduling priority they can use.  I'm able to turn off the capability to schedule, but I can't find a way to restrict priorities.

Consumer Level 1 can only schedule with priority 5
Consumer Level 2 can schedule with priority 4 (optionally:5 as well)
Consumer Level 3 can schedule with priority 3 (optionally:4 and 5 as well)
The remaining priorities will be reserved for admins and system jobs.

I'm still learning about security, so is this even possible?  The purpose of this is to alleviate strain on the servers.  It seems like some mornings are a rush to get every report out, and it's delaying delivery of controlled reports.  Using this setup will at least let the controlled reports run first, and would be a major benefit if we could even pause certain priorities during heavy loads (I wish they had report queues).  We plan to take it a step further by limiting database signons to certain groups so we can use database resource governors.

Thanks for your help!
