Hi All,
Am currently planning to upgrade from Cognos BI version 8.4 (old school) to the new and shiny IBM Cognos Analytics (v11). Am sure everybody will be surprised that am I still using 8.4 but yes that is the truth. Now it has become mandatory for our organisation to keep up with the latest version.
Wondering, is it possible to
. migrate from v8.4 to Analytics directly or
. migrate from 8.4 to v10.x and then to Analytics.
Grateful, if you could share your thoughts and experiences. Thanks

Hi,
You can upgrade from 8.4 to Cognos Analytics directly - no need to go via Cognos 10.
I'd use Lifecycle Manager to help make sure your reports work the same way in both instances.
Cheers!

Selfishly, I'd love to know what kind of performance differences you see. I remember testing C10 GA at some large Cognos clients before C10 came out and C10 did not perform better. So much has changed since then of course.
Thanks guys for the response. Quite helpful. Much appreciated.
Cheers
Just wondering... is Lifecycle Manager software is part of Cognos Analytics or it needs to be purchased separately? Please share your thoughts. Thanks

It's not a separate purchase :-)
