Title: Including partitions in waterfall visualization or progressive chart
Post by: SavoyRoad on 14 Sep 2016 01:28:16 PM
I'm trying to figure out how to show partitions in the columns of a waterfall chart (similar to a stacked bar chart).  I have an active report with three filters included: two separate year filters as well as a month filter.  I am trying show the dollar value of the selected month as a piece in the waterfall chart, similar to this in Excel (attached image).

Is there any possible way to show this in Cognos, and if not, is there an alternative with a similar outcome?

I believe the only thing that comes close is to nest a calculated data item that will return only the last month or an "others" value in your categories, below your actual category. Of course, that will result in a separate column for those values, rather than a stacked column.

I haven't really played with Active Reports much, but it might be worth having a look at some of the RAVE visualisations to see there anything there that would do what you need.
