Title: Multiple Cubes / 1 Report
Post by: claptik on 01 Nov 2007 04:32:14 PM
I am a developer but new to Cognos.  I have done some research but been unable to find an answer to this question.  We have two cubes with conformed dimensions, both in the same package.  My boss wants me to create a chart in report studio that has two measures, one from each cube in the same chart.  Can someone point me in the right direction how I would go about linking the two cubes together in either report studio, framework manager or transformer so I can include the two measures in the same chart, or confirm that this cannot be done and that I will have to get all the measures into one cube.  Much thanks.

Hi,

Multiple cubes cannot be used together in a single query - the only options you have are to bring in the relevant data from each cube into a separate query, then either UNION these queries together, or link them using a master/detail relationship (ie they cannot be joined using Report Studio's Query Joins either).

Your authoring experience would definitely be much easier if both measures existed in the same cube, but using one of the approaches above, you could probably get it to work as things stand.

Regards,

MF.

Hi,

you cant use multiple cubes data in the same report. you can select that two queries and union that then you can use it in a query. According to my knowledge this is correct.

thanks...
