Title: Execute Report when Condition Met
Post by: Bonediggler on 13 Jun 2016 01:44:57 PM
Experts -

I have some reports set up to run at 6:30 and 7:00 am each day.  The reason is the database they run off is usually updated by 6:30 but sometimes not until 7:00.

I would like to use Event Studio to check if the database is updated at 6:30 and if so, run the reports, and if not, run the reports at 7:00.

Is this possible?  If so, how would I set up the agent?

How can you tell if the database has been updated or not? Is a date set, or a flag? If so, you can get your agent to check this?

If the count of records in a particular table is more than 5,000 would be a sufficient indicator.

Ok - this sounds like the condition to use :)

Well - I can figure that part out, but how do I write it so:

1) The event does not fire at 7 am if it fires at 6:30?

Also, this is my first time using Event Studio - do you have a good link for some basic instructions?

Thank you!

The user guide is always a good place to start. Here is the link for 10.2.2, but google is pretty darn handy if you need to find a different version: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27042003

You create an event that has a condition and defines what actions to take when the condition is met. Then you schedule it to check for the condition at whatever time and interval frequency makes sense.
