Title: Help with a splintered business
Post by: bpothier on 17 May 2016 11:35:36 AM
Hi there,

The company I work for has decentralized its CRM and instead of Cognos being fed from the original Siebel instance that was fully integrated has moved to multiple crms not integrated to cognos.

I am wondering if there is a version of cognos (we currently have 10.1) or another offering that allows uploading of feed files, since we now have 3 different versions of Salesforce, 1 Siebel on Demand and 1 Siebel on Premise instance as well as access databases that are used now and reporting has become a nightmare and our existing cognos instance virtually unusable.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Cognos, or any other tool , does not allow 'uploading of feed files' and nor is that recommended. This is exactly why a Data Warehouse is created using ETL process. What you are asking for is very common in the BI world. Merging data from various sources is the fundamental concept behind Data Warehousing. If you are trying
to bypass ETL and have Cognos read data from all those sources and still merge all of it together then rest assured, you will not go too far no matter how hard you try or how many people you talk to.
