Title: BI & SOA
Post by: MikeD on 22 Oct 2007 03:49:01 AM
SOA is mentioned in almost every IT conversation these days, and if you're not in the coding or architecture realm, you probably understand it as a web services thang ....
This link and more specifically the responses, give a very good overview as to the possible implicatons for the BI realm
http://www.infoq.com/articles/BI-and-SOA

There are some additional links in the articel that refer to Event Stream Intelligence ... and then on to http://www.ipedo.com/index.html (EII etc).
Is this the future of 'BI' i.e. Faster, Smarter etc

EII is still struggling to get off the ground.  Cognos offers EII through the OEM with Composite Software and despite it being bundled free with Cognos products it still doesn't have a lot of users.  It hits performance, volume and metadata problems.  It can be very effective in some instances but you have to be aware of the risks and shortcomings.
