Title: Hotfiles in Framework Manager
Post by: johnpenna on 15 Oct 2007 10:07:47 AM
Has anyone experience in Hotfiles with Cognos 8. Apparently there not supported.

I have migrated a number of catalogues with hotfiles from impromptu to Cognos 8 using the latest migration tools.

Cognos tell me Hotfiles are not supported in Cognos 8 framework manager.

My understanding is that it is just a link to a csv file or such that holds data..Anybody now how to fix the hotfiles to another method??  ???

Hotfiles are essentially offline data stores, designed to get around Impromptu's inability to connect to more than one logical database.  Cognos 8 does not have this limitation, but does not support hotfiles - throw your hotfiles away and point Cognos 8 at the data sources from which the data was originally gathered for inclusion in the hotfiles.

MF.

You need to check out Composite Information Server, that comes packaged with Cognos 8.  It basically serves the same purpose and supposedly does it much better.
