Title: Workspace Dashboard Prompt Error
Post by: atran12 on 15 Mar 2016 08:50:58 AM
Hi,

I'm working in the Cognos Worksapce Dashboard space and am noticing some odd actions. I imported two different reports as widgets as part of the dashboard. Each of the reports have their own drop down prompts that contain the same list of offices. However, when I open one of the drop downs and choose an office, the other report/widget also updates with the same office, as if i chose that office in that widget's dropdown menu.

So it looks as though one report's dropdown affects the other's. I've tried renaming the data items and parameter names on each of them so that they are both different but they still appear to be affecting one another.

Has anyone encountered this issue?

Have you checked the "Listen for Widget Events" details for the widgets in question?

Forgive my ignorance, but where is that button?

Click the Widget Actions button and select Listen for Widget Events. There is a section on widget to widget communication in the user guide. You didn't mention what version you are on, but the link below is the user guide for 10.2.2.

That worked! I clicked the dropdown arrow on the top left portion of the widget and clicked Listen for Widget Events and unchecked the box that was there. Thanks so much for your help, Lynn!
