Hi,

We have a very complicated slow performing prompt page and we have tried everything possible to performance tune to load the prompt page quicker but we can only performance tune so much. So I was trying to use an Active Report output as a prompt page. The idea is to use active report controls like Data Check box, Data drop down list etc. in the active report and use that output as a prompt page for the users. Once the user selects the values from the active report, the idea is to pass these values to a regular report studio report and run the report. I am stuck on how to pass the Active Report control values to the detail report.

I know there is not straight forward way of doing this but was wondering of any of the gurus here might have an out of the box way to do it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

What version of Cognos BI do you have? Using Active Reports as prompts has just been added as a new innovation in the latest version - Cognos Analytics (Cognos 11). I don't think the mechanisms exist to do this in prior versions.

Thanks for your reply. I am using Cognos 10.2.2. Is there any way to get this to work using Javascript or any other out of the box way to achieve this in the version we have. The reason I am asking is because this is a much needed requirement for the client and Cognos Analytics is not in the road map in the short term.

Hi MF,

I am using Cognos 11.0.11, can we pass the Active Report Variable to a Report Studio Report.

I am using Year & Month as Data Drop down lists in the Active Report and I need to pass those year & month selection to the Report Studio Report using Drill through and filter the records.
