As well as our current Cognos 10 Enterprise Reporting environment, we have an older Cognos Finance environment (Cognos 7.4) which has not been my area of responsibility.
The plan is to re-write all the required financial reports in the new Cognos 10 environment.
We do not plan on migrating as the financial data souces will be changing.
My initial question is; Will the existing Cognos 7.4 Licenses be valid on Cognos 10?
And if so, what level of licensing?
I need to know if I will need to purchase additional licenses for the users who will move over to Cognos 10 or whether they can still use the existing licenses assigned under Cognos 7.4?
Thanks in advance,
Adam.

Hi Adam,
I'm pretty sure your Cognos Finance licenses are not valid for use with Cognos 10 BI. Your best course of action is to talk to your IBM account manager and see if your CF licenses can be traded up to BI licenses. I remember there used to be a trade-up scheme for Cognos 7 Impromptu and PowerPlay licenses, but I honestly couldn't say if anything like this exists for CF licenses. IBM is your best bet here.
Good luck!!
MF.
MFGF...
Thanks for your reply.
We'll make sure to follow up with IBM.
Thanks again!
