Hi,
I'm starting a large 10.1.1 to 11 upgrade project, starting with a POC install. My first question is regarding the Gateway URI. The default is:http://<SERVER>:9300/bi/v1/disp, clearly this is very different from previous versions, ideally I need to configure IIS and Single Sign On, has anyone done this yet ?
Cheers

Hi,
The default URL uses the servlet gateway, which IBM seems to recommend for any non-SSO installs. The gateway component only gets installed if you select the Custom Install option and select it. After that I assume it's the same process to configure IIS and SSO as for 10.2.2, although it's not something I tried.
Cheers!
MF.
Thanks,
This is a large customer site that will require SSO, it will also have 2 Gateway Servers, 4 Dispatchers and multiple CM's.. I am presuming that the "Gateway Component" is the required component I need for the Gateway Servers, and also the correct component needed for IIS ?

Yep - that's the one :)
MF.
So I need to figure out how to override 'The default is:http://<SERVER>:9300/bi/v1/disp' in favour of cgi or isapi, same in the default.html file, a the moment the default is URL=/bi
ideas ?

Looks like earthdog was struggling with this challenge:

Might be worth dropping him a line to see if he got anywhere with it?

Hi All,
Still not resolved yet, But, I have a fix from Doesn't work for me but it might you. (I just get a blank screen)
PMR 01666 999 616
(1) Please setup virtual directory: /ibmcognos and "application": /ibmcognos/cgi-bin using the below proven practice document.
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/cognos/infrastructure/web_servers/page599.html
(2) Install Application Request Routing and URL Rewrite using the below link
https://www.microsoft.com/web/gallery/install.aspx?appid=urlrewrite2
File:urlrewrite2
Also install ( http://www.iis.net/downloads/microsoft/application-request-routing )
File:ARRv3_0
(3) Set up Titan proxy:
• in IIS Manager, select the "bi" folder in ibmcognos and double-click "URL-Rewrite".
• click Add Rule(s) - > ReverseProxy.
• Click OK
• enter localhost:9300/bi for server name click OK.
(4) Cognos Analytics will now be available at http://server/ibmcognos/bi/
Here's a link to my notes that I created to help me remember the steps

Top Job CAdams, very well written...haven't tried the custom installation yet but will try it out.

Excellent Job cadams,Thank you very much for the detailed instructions.
I was able to configure the SSO successfully with IIS.
Make sure you choose Custom install with Gateway option selected for the IIS to work with SSO.

IBM has released their version of these steps as well. They can be found here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21976435&aid=1
I'm using:
MS Windows Server 2012 R2
IIS 8
MS Windows 7
IE 11
I followed the instructions in these documents.

They appear to be all the same instructions, just with different writing styles.
Some people claimed success in http://www.cognoise.com/index.php/topic,29723.0.html, but I'm still having trouble.
The name of my virtual directory is ibmcognos11.
See attachment for screen captures.
Navigating to http://<webserver>/ibmcognos11/cgi-bin/cognosisapi.dll?b_action=xts.run&m=portal/main.xts&m_redirect=/ibmcognos11/bi/ produces the welcome screen. Great! It looks like I'm in... until I run a report. Then I get challenged for credentials by, I think, the gateway (middle image). After entering my credentials there, I don't get the Cognos Analytics logon (left image).
When I log out, I get a different challenge, apparently from Windows (right image). I click cancel to get the IBM Cognos logon screen (left image), which has no place to just sign on with my Windows credentials without just typing them (like 10.2.1 had a Log on again... button).
Have you seen these web pages/dialogs on your way to success with CA/IIS/SSO? How did you correct the problem?
Hi Doug,
Yep, I've seen all the screens and lost chinks of hair in the process !!!
If you're using IE, ensure you're using compatibility mode, and ensure your server/domain are in ie's trusted sites..
try testing with both fully qualified Domain Names and non..
None of those changes helped in IE 11. I didn't expect it to since the server is in the intranet zone and my default configuration is that all intranet sites are viewed in compatibility mode.
Google Chrome produces the same results.
Firefox gives me a Windows credentials challenge immediately, but I suspect that's because I didn't set up the NTLM stuff in Firefox. (Firefox is not supported at my workplace anyway, so I don't need it to work).
I 've updated this post because after further testing I've found that what Kiran posted (after this comment) about updating the default.htm and index.htm files solved my problem and made my posted suggestions irrelevant.
Cheers,
Jeff
I did 11.0.2 distributed install and did not face this problem. Pls look at this tech note for IIS configuration. Note the Options section at the end since you have not used default virtual directory name.
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21976614
Also, instead of using that whole URL, I was able to access with just the below format.
http://web server/ibmcognos/bi/
Thanks
Kiran
